After four years of diligent fundraising, we are pleased to announce that LESA has reached a $2 million challenge grant goal established by The Lutheran Foundation of St. Louis in 2012. The grant, which provides a dollar-for-dollar match on all donations, is restricted to the Operations and Programming Endowment. This endowment will help provide future funding to LESA whose mission is to provide financial resources for children in need to obtain Lutheran Christian education, and advocate and support efforts to improve the sustainability and quality of Lutheran Christian schools in the metro St. Louis area.
“We feel incredibly blessed and fortunate to have achieved this funding goal,” said Sue Nahmensen. “Lutheran schools have been educating children in the St. Louis area since the mid-1800s. Thanks to the generosity and dedication of the St. Louis community, we can continue that mission well into the future.”
In addition, LESA has a $4.1 million Building Blocks Scholarship Endowment Fund, which offers need-based financial assistance to students of all faiths who attend LESA-member Lutheran Christian schools.
More than 8,500 children of all faiths attend Lutheran elementary and high schools in the St. Louis Metro Area, making it the second largest private school system in the Bi-State Region.
Founded in 2004, LESA provides educational support services to 35 member schools - including three National Blue Ribbon Schools and three National Lutheran Exemplary Schools - and five related agencies. LESA is a Recognized Service Organization of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
We invite you to continue helping children attending Lutheran elementary schools now and in the future by donating to a LESA Endowment.
