Position Summary
The Middle School Math Teacher is responsible for establishing a Christ-centered classroom environment, where each student is loved, nurtured, and grows toward his or her potential spiritually, academically, interpersonally, and, as appropriate, physically.
Education and Qualifications
- Possess a valid teaching certification for the grade level/subject area taught.
- Be a lifelong learner, professionally and spiritually.
- Be an active member of Abiding Savior (preferred), or another Christian church.
- Be synodically trained (preferred), or willing to complete the colloquy process.
- Submit to, and pass, required background checks.
- Be, or become, CPR and First Aid certified.

- Be a model of Christian living for students, their families, and colleagues, reflecting positively on oneself, the Lord Jesus, and Abiding Savior..

- Demonstrate an exemplary work ethic.
- Comply with all Board and administrative policies and directives.
- Function as a team player, assisting colleagues whenever possible.
- Understand teaching as a ministry of servant leadership.
- Utilize Biblical reconciliation models in all situations involving interpersonal conflict or disagreement.
- Be prompt, punctual, and professional.
- Maintain all necessary educational records.
Responsibilities and Duties
Including, but not limited to, the following:
- In all ways, hold yourself to a higher standard than that to which you hold your students.
- Provide appropriate supervision at all times, including assigned lunch, recess, chapel, and other
- Implement classroom management practices that ensure a safe, secure, and orderly school environment is maintained at all times.
- Function as the first point of contact for parents. Be proactive in communicating; don’t wait until there is a problem or until the last minute.
- Partner with parents to provide maximum support and cohesion between school and home.
- Supervise teacher aides in the classroom and ensure they are following school and classroom policy.
- Maintain up-to-date grades for all students; communicate with parents when appropriate (when there is a concern, etc.)
- Participate in on-going in-service and educational development opportunities.
- Develop and implement a curriculum that meets the needs of the students. Curriculum must meet and should exceed MO state standards and LESA (Lutheran Elementary School Association) guidelines.
- Work with teachers below and above to ensure that students are appropriately prepared for their next educational level.
- Participate in the selection of curricular materials.
- Keep an accurate inventory of school-owned resources.
